DHE Auditions

The Detroit Handbell Ensemble (DHE) typically holds auditions in the Spring of each year, but may hold them at other times of the year as announced by the Audition Coordinator.  If you are interested in being a member of this dynamic group, plan now to audition!  Even if it's not Spring, submit your application now and the Audition Coordinator will be in touch.

The DHE audition process last approximately 45 minutes and consists of the following:

To measure your recognition and knowledge of handbell terminology and notation.

2.  Brief interview

With the Artistic Director, Audition Coordinator and Audition Committee members.

3.  Skills demonstration

Including ringing different rhythms and meters; table damping; weaving; multiple treble bells techniques (if applicable); and bass bell ringing (if applicable).

4.  Group Ringing

Ringing with several members of DHE at different ringing positions, sight reading pieces of varying style.
